Crap Shack is back on Track

So many delays, and I haven't written in awhile but the Crap Shack is finally nearing the end. Well, an end that will actually allow us to move in. I know I've been horrible at updating the past couple of months but the project was in a holding pattern for a little bit. My lack of updates have been because of some other things I've been dealing with in real life, but here I am and it's time to put in an update.

This weekend the electrician comes to install our fixtures and finish up the wiring. Next week the plumber comes to install the water heater, toilet, and get all the sinks and such set up. Once that happens, we should be able to start moving in. Crazy, right?

I haven't really posted many pictures but the big set of after photos should be anytime now. It's been a long hard project, but totally worth it. I think this whole process shows how you need to be flexible when remodeling your home. We have changed our plans hundreds of times along the way, most of the time because one option was cheaper than we wanted. Yes we have a lot of high end finishes in our house, but I can tell we NEVER paid a high end price. We have made it unique and it's ours.

In the past few months we have been painting, tile work has been finished, a fence has been added to the front, etc. etc...
This is is the fence along the front of the house, we just need to build a gate
I can say with a doubt that this project has been a blast. 97% of the time it has just been the two of us working on the house on our days off. It is truly a custom home. Now would I do this again? Of course! With some very big "buts". I would like to have more money the next time around, so when I'm exhausted I could hire someone to work for me. I love the bargain hunting though, and I think I would do that no matter what. There is no reason to pay full price for anything. I will have some odds and ends that I will need to sell when all it's over. Since the plan has been  constantly evolving, some things I bought a year ago just won't work now.

I have really enjoyed everyone watching this project and I hope you enjoy the end result. It's going to be one hell of a housewarming party.
